Law and Conflict Resolution in the South Caucasus – at the Yerevan State University, Armenia

The summer school “#LAWCONRESC – Law and Conflict Resolution in the South Caucasus”, jointly organized by the Yerevan State University (#Armenia) and the Universität Graz / REWI Uni Graz (Austria) took place at the YSU campus on 6 – 10 July 2026.

Drawing on a number of already successfully held international summer schools in the region revolving around matters pertaining to Europeanization and conflict resolution, this intensive seminar aimed to unpack the various multifaceted dimensions and challenges of the Europeanization process and peacebuilding in a broader context. It also explored its impact on the state of affairs in different spheres, including political institutions, security strategies, diversity management and conflict resolution, geopolitical choices, as well as social and cultural practices. By aiming to develop a transferable model of post-Soviet transition, the summer school looked particularly at the case of Armenia.

The summer school program comprised a series of lectures on subjects including international law, the resolution of ethnic conflict, Track 2 and Track 3 initiatives, diversity management, and regional policy. In addition, participants had the opportunity to visit the Monitoring Mission of the European Union in Armenia, the Office of the Council of Europe, and the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia. The program also included a variety of other events.
